It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to the Linkup Cultural Event, a distinguished occasion dedicated to celebrating The Gambia’s rich and diverse cultural heritage.

This event brings together representatives from all tribes across the nation to showcase our collective identity through traditional performances, cultural quiz competitions, instrumental displays, and exhibitions of traditional attire. It is an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of our customs, languages, and artistic expressions that unite us as one people.

In addition, there will be presentations of the National Flag, Coat of Arms, and the National Anthem, symbolizing our shared values, patriotism, and unity.

The Linkup Cultural Event marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind in The Gambia, and we are honored to host this momentous gathering. AIMS:

• Inspire youth pride in their heritage, promote social unity, and develop key skills like communication and leadership.

• Foster national unity, boost the economy, preserve culture, and enhance the country’s global image.

• Promote dialogue, unity, and respect, helping to bridge divides and support democracy.

OBJECTIVE:

• Preserve and Celebrate Heritage: Showcase traditional music, dance, art, fashion, and   storytelling to preserve Gambian culture and instill pride in citizens.

• Foster Unity Through Culture: Create a shared space where communities, ethnic groups, and generations come together to promote peace, tolerance, and mutual respect.

• Empower Youth and Creativity: Offer young talents and cultural entrepreneurs opportunities to exhibit, perform, and market their skills and products.

• Promote Culture as a Driver of Growth: Position the festival as a tool for tourism promotion, economic empowerment, education, and international cultural exchange.
